My first experiment was to find out just exactly how a random stack of books will sit most comfortably without a shelf. For this test I took every book I own and stacked them into a pile according to size and I stopped each pile at a point just before it was getting unstable. What I learned from this is that books can appear to be un-organized even when they are organized, and while stacking books on the floor is better than a floppy pile, it is not an efficient way to house your books. The larger books must stay at the bottom in order to make the pile larger and in turn they become rendered useless stepping stones.ImageImage
